Darren followed the rules of society very closely. He was a firm believer in the concept of a social contract. He was courteous to everyone he met, and he always made sure to leave a place as clean or cleaner than it was when he arrived. His practicality and consideration carried over into the rest of his life, as well. When he started working and bringing in a regular salary, he made sure that he had income protection insurance. While he thought it was highly unlikely that he would suffer an on the job injury that would incapacitate him to the point that he become unable to work, he knew that it was important to protect his family from the unlikely event that he would not be able to bring in a regular paycheck. Even though it was not likely to happen, he did want to be prepared just in case it did.
